Week 1 Review
So after the first week of the Final Major Project, I have reviewed the photos taken by Alison Brewster and the photos of Chernobyl, the common themes that stood out to me within both of these photo series was the eerie and isolated atmosphere that has been captured in photo form.
In my previous projects I have explored dark themes which enabled me to create a mood of the paranormal, as a kid I would watch a lot of different TV series and films about the paranormal such as, The Paranormal Activity movies and The Conjuring etc along with the documentary series Ghost Hunters which follows an American ghost hunting team. In order to achieve a similar atmosphere within my photos to those, I have been inspired by I want to extend my research and revisit these films from my childhood.
Through this exploration of paranormal moving image, I am keen to gain further ideas and inspiration which I can implement on my first location shoot. I will be looking for how they have explored lighting, viewpoint and angle to create a visual atmosphere like that seen in Brewster’s work and the images of Chernobyl. I am sure this extended research will help me move forward with this project, allowing me to implement my findings when I am out on location.
Overall this has been a quiet week as I have been thinking and studying about different themes and people I can research throughout the project to help me, I am confident I will be able to create something that is unique and great to look at during the exhibition week in May.
